Pre-Conference Bus Tour Package
( Itinerary subject to change without notice. Double occupancy required.)
The 2005 Pre-Convention destination is San Antonio , the largest tourist destination in the great state of Texas , San Antonio is home to the Alamo and a scenic waterway lined with restaurants and clubs known as the River-walk. Each year, San Antonio holds a city wide celebration known as Fiesta! And, as with “Biker Weekend” that we endured in Myrtle Beach for the tour in 2004, Fiesta falls during our Haunt Tour of San Antonio. It should be one heck of a party!
The adventure starts at early on Wednesday April 20, from the Adam’s Mark hotel in Dallas . We board busses at 9:00 am sharp and head South. Our first stop on the tour is Reindeer Manor , only a half hour ride away in Red Oak, Texas!
In 2004 Reindeer Manor opened for its 30 th terrifying season and is one of the oldest continuously operating Haunts in the country. All proceeds from the event go to Boy Scout Troop 1 out of Duncanville , one of the oldest BSA Troops in the area, which celebrated its 90 th anniversary last year! Reindeer Manor isn’t your typical Haunted House. More of a theatrical show, many actors have speaking roles, and the patron becomes part of the story. Review at DFW Haunted Houses
Another thing you will notice at Reindeer Manor is the extensive use of pyrotechnics. Flame shoots out of the gate gargoyles, out of the chimney of the House, and everywhere else you can think of. There is even a coin operated panel so that for a few quarters, the patrons can set off the pyro!
Back on the buses, we head south again toward San Antonio . A box lunch is provided on board and consists of Mom’s Home Made Meatloaf Sandwiches, fresh fruit, potato salad and a brownie. There will be plenty of time for talking and getting to know each other during the drive to the Alamo City . If you have videos of your Haunt that you would like to share with the group, bring them along. Horror host and Haunter David Lady has donated several tapes of his “punny” and informative cable program.
As soon as the busses reach San Antonio , we go straight to Ripley's Haunted Adventure for a lights off tour of this million dollar Haunted Attraction. Built in 2002, this large multi-level Haunt is located in the heart of the city’s tourist destination. This Haunted Adventure is a franchise owned by Phillips Entertainment, which also owns the San Antonio Guinness World Records Museum , and is quite different from the attractions of the same name in Gatlinburg and Myrtle Beach , which are owned by the parent company of Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
Now it is back on the buses to head out to the Hampton Inn Hotel to drop off the luggage at the and grab dinner. There are a variety of restaurants a short walk from the hotel. Everyone needs to be back on the busses by 7:30 to head over to Nightmare on Grayson. Owned by Gene and Betty Braden and managed by Gordon Wise, this attraction is the oldest Haunted event in San Antonio , and one of the few October seasonal attractions left in the city. Beautiful sets, (some of which may be under construction for October 2005) and unique room designs developed over their 15 years of operation!
Then it is back to the buses for a return trip to the hotel. Attendees can either call it an evening, or join other Haunters for a nightcap at the restaurant bars near the hotel.
Thursday morning breakfast is provided at the hotel. Attendees must be checked out and ready to load the buses at 9am to head over to Ripley's Haunted Adventure for an unprecedented, lights-on tour of the facility. Ripley’s staff will be on site to answer any questions and provide a back stage look at this high tech attraction. Then it is back on the buses to head North toward Dallas . A box Lunch will be provided on the buses. More videos and a chance to discuss the attractions that we toured with other attendees on the way to Big “D”.
Before we get back to town, there is one more Haunted Event to tour in Alvarado. At Phantasms Halloween Scream Park , owned by Patrick Mathews, we will tour Nightmare In The House Of Wax and The Hollywood Movie Monster Museum before heading back to the Adam’s Mark Hotel to check in and drop off the bags.
But wait! The tour is not over yet! After a short stop at the Adams Mark Hotel , we board the buses again and head down the road to the Dallas ScareGrounds for an evening social and tours of Dallas ’s most popular Multi-element Haunted Attraction.
As the guests of Gene and Betty Braden, attendees will enjoy some “TexMex” food, soft drinks and tours through all three of the Haunted walk-throughs, The Terrortorium™, opened in 1996, is a dark dominion in which patrons are forced to witness the most demented scenes of fright imaginable! Premiering in 1997, The Necrotorium™, is a harrowing, fright-filled journey through the rotting crypts, desecrated tombs and claustrophobic catacombs of a crumbling, fog-shrouded, classically Gothic cemetery. Established in 2000, the 3-D Hallucinatorium™ brings patrons into an unfathomable realm of 3 dimensional hysteria!
At he conclusion of the Social, the buses will then return to the Adams Mark Hotel around 11:00 pm .
(Note: The Dallas ScareGrounds social and tour is also available to those not attending the Haunted Bus Tour for a fee of $25, transportation is not included.)
